What Should You Do If Your Kia Gets Scratched or Dented?

Have you just noticed any car scratches or dents in your pristine Kia paintwork? Never fear: there are many effective ways to make even a scratch disappear, and even car dents can be fixed without too much trouble. The surest solution is to visit your local Kia dealer, where an experienced technician can promptly have your car looking like new. There are also a few options if you're keen to attempt a repair job of your own at home. What Should You Do If Your Kia Gets Scratched or Dented? Fixing Car Scratches Cars can get scratched by all kinds of things, including road debris, errant shopping carts, tree branches, playing kids, bumps with other vehicles, and improper washing. The best method of removing a scratch depends on its depth. Clear-Coat Scratches The shallowest of scratches only dig into the upper clear coat layer, making them relatively easy to repair. You can often fix these minor scratches by gently buffing them out with a polishing compound. Base-Coat Scratches When the base coat of paint has been scraped away, you'll usually be able to see the darker primer coat underneath. For these medium-level scratches, you might be able to repair them by gently sanding, reapplying the clear coat, and then buffing and waxing the area. But you might also have to apply a new layer of enamel paint before applying the clear coat. Primer Scratches Major scratches reach down into the primer and sometimes into the metal beneath. Here, you'll need to clean and then fill the scratch with a deep scratch filler product before repainting, reapplying the clear coat, buffing, and polishing. Allow Your Local Kia Dealer to Fix It for You Take great care when repairing any scratch as an unskilled hand can easily cause further aesthetic damage to the clear coat and paintwork. This is why scratches are usually a job best left to a technician. Fixing Car Dents Dents are fortunately less common than scratches. But falling objects, other car doors, accidents in tight parking spots, and fender benders can occasionally happen to the best of drivers. There are various tricks to removing dents but the most effective is usually with a good dent repair kit. These kits use suction cups to allow you to grip the dented area and heave it outward. Heating the plastic or metal with hot water or even a blow dryer beforehand can often help; the heat loosens the material, encouraging it to pop back out to its original form. Have your scratched or dented car repaired today by experienced mechanics at Crain Kia of Fayetteville. We pride ourselves on the outstanding customer service we provide, no matter your vehicle purchasing or servicing needs. Image via pixabay.com by Hans

Does Your Kia Have a Faulty Ignition Coil?

Each cylinder in your engine has an ignition coil that provides the spark plug with enough electrical voltage to ignite the fuel and power your car. This makes ignition coils essential for proper engine functioning. If one or more of your coils develops a fault, your engine will also start struggling. Here are a few common indications that you might need to visit your nearest Kia dealership to have a faulty ignition coil removed or repaired. Does Your Kia Have a Faulty Ignition Coil? Rough Idling When an ignition coil becomes fouled by carbon deposits or damaged by heat and vibrations, your engine will start misfiring. This makes idling feel much rougher than usual, with plenty of shaking and sputtering sounds. Sudden Stalling A badly misfiring engine can sometimes fail altogether. This can be dangerous if you suddenly stall in traffic or at a busy intersection. Trouble Starting When starting up, your engine needs a strong burst of electrical power. If one or more of the ignition coils fails to provide this voltage, your engine might take a while to start. At worst, it might fail to start entirely. Lack of Engine Power Misfiring engines also lose power: irregular sparks inside the combustion chambers aren't burning the fuel as steadily as before. As a result, acceleration drops, making it harder to overtake other vehicles. Poor Fuel Efficiency An engine with faltering ignition coils cannot burn fuel as well as it should. As a result, a full tank of gas will no longer provide as much bang for your buck. Thickened Exhaust Smoke With misfiring cylinders, some of the fuel is going unburned. This unburned fuel eventually starts to escape through the exhaust system, where it might drip out or sometimes ignite, turning into thick smoke. If the fuel ignites inside your catalytic converter, the cat will probably be destroyed. Blinking Check Engine Light The various engine problems resulting from problematic ignition coils will usually cause the check engine light on your instrument panel to light up. This warning light doesn't tell you the exact source of the problem, but a technician can quickly diagnose it for you. How Your Kia Dealer Can Repair a Faulty Coil Not all faulty coils need to be thrown out. It is sometimes possible to save a bad ignition coil by cleaning it. The technician will examine each coil for cracks, a burned-out electrode, or other structural damage. They may also use a multimeter to test the conductivity. Some coils might only be fouled by carbon residue, which can sometimes be cleaned away to restore the coil's function. But many bad coils need to be swapped out for new ones. Have your ignition coils inspected, repaired, or replaced today at Crain Kia of Fayetteville. We're a local family-owned dealership, and we aim to treat all our customers like family as well.

Basics About the 2023 Kia Telluride Power and Handling All Telluride trims share a naturally aspirated 3.8L Lambda II GDi V6 that produces 291 horsepower and 262 lb-ft of torque. This performance gives the SUV strong acceleration and the ability to tow up to 5,500 pounds when combined with its smooth 8-speed automatic transmission. Multiple drive modes can help maximize efficiency, sharpen throttle response, or provide more traction on slippery surfaces. Kia's Torque Vectoring Cornering Control minimizes understeer by monitoring driver inputs and sending an appropriate amount of torque when needed. Available Active On-Demand All-Wheel Drive uses multiple sensors to detect changes in available traction and sends extra power to any wheel that is likely to slip. X-Pro Model When you intend to use the Telluride as your primary off-roader, you can't go wrong with its extra-rugged X-Pro trim. In addition to standard all-wheel drive, the model features exclusive 18-inch alloy wheels in a matte black finish, all-terrain tires, and 8.4 inches of ground clearance. Its available self-leveling rear suspension maintains the vehicle's excellent off-road capability as it carries very heavy loads. Also helping the X-Pro to stand out from other models in the lineup are its unique front grille with glossy black accenting and dark metallic trim on the front and rear fascias. Passenger Cabin Despite being priced much lower than luxury-brand SUVs, the Telluride houses a spacious interior that boasts tons of high-quality materials and perfect fitment of its components. For the second row, buyers can choose a pair of reclining captain's chairs or a bench seat that brings the maximum passenger seating up to eight. You'll find numerous compartments and cubbies throughout the cabin, including a large space hidden underneath the floor. Thanks to the display's large size and excellent responsiveness, it's especially easy to read the available navigation system's detailed maps and directions. If you don't want to disturb the rear passengers, you can utilize the audio system's quiet mode, which limits sound playback to the front row. For those times when you want to fill the cabin with amazingly crisp treble and deep bass, however, there's the available 10-speaker Harman Kardon premium audio system. The Top 3 Reasons Your Car Engine Is Overheating

A car's engine generates large amounts of heat. The heat has to be controlled, or your engine could overheat and suffer critical damage. Your Kia's cooling system requires regular service and maintenance to keep it running effectively. As your Kia dealer, we'd like to tell you some of the causes of car overheating and how we can help you. Advice From Your Kia Dealer: 3 Reasons Your Car Engine Is Overheating Coolant Leak Coolant is a mix of water and antifreeze. This solution is vital for your engine, as it helps to control the heat. Coolant is pumped through your engine. This liquid absorbs the heat generated by combustion and the hundreds of moving parts. The coolant is pumped into the radiator and enters rows of thin metal tubes. Air flows through the radiator grille and blows over the tubes to cool the hot coolant. A coolant leak can happen from wear or damage to parts of the cooling system, including the pipes, hoses, radiator, or radiator cap. As coolant leaks out, the pressure in the cooling system will drop, and the cooling process will slow down. This will cause your engine to overheat rapidly. Our expert technicians can trace the leak and repair it. Once the leak is fixed, we'll refill the coolant. Worn Radiator Cap The radiator cap fits on top of the radiator. This cap helps to control the pressure in the cooling system and prevent leaks. The cooling system is highly pressurized, and the heat absorbed by the coolant can increase the pressure. When this happens, the radiator cap will open to release the pressure and then close again. Two seals on the radiator cap provide an airtight fit and prevent coolant from leaking. Over time, these seals can shrink or wear out, and coolant can escape. This coolant will rapidly burn up in the engine's heat but leaves thin white lines around the radiator cap. We'll check the cap for signs of damage, and we'll replace the seals to fix this problem. Worn Hoses Two reinforced rubber hoses attach the radiator to your cooling system. The hose at the top brings hot coolant into the radiator, and the bottom hose removes the coolant once it's cooled. These hoses are attached to the radiator by strong clamps. The clamps prevent the hot and highly-pressurized coolant from escaping the cooling system. We check your hoses as part of your Kia's scheduled service. If the hoses haven't been checked, they can eventually become less elastic. The stiffer rubber becomes more prone to cracks and leaks. We'll examine the hoses and replace them if they're damaged. If your temperature gauge is rising, call us immediately at Crain Kia of Fayetteville.
