What better way is there to spend a Saturday afternoon than cruising down the lake in your pontoon boat or shredding on a pair of skis? During the hot summer months, a day on the water is the perfect way to get the wind in your hair, work on your tan, and even take a dip to cool off. And luckily, thanks to its geography, Fayetteville, AR is home to some great locations for boating. Here are our favorites!

3 Favorite Boating Destinations in Driving Distance of Fayetteville, AR

1. White River

Located just to the east of Fayetteville, White River offers an experience on the water that really can’t be replicated in many other parts of the country! If you take your boat to the Blue Springs Use Area and use their boat ramp, you can then navigate the winding, meandering river all the way up to the Hobbs State Park-Conservation Area or even to Indian Creek! That’s a journey that will keep you going all day!

The best part about this trip is that there are plenty of marinas and parks that you can stop at along the way. You can stop at the restroom at War Eagle Marina and go to the nearby bluffs to go cliff jumping, or you can get some shade where the bluffs turn into overhangs! There’s a lot to see on the White River!

2. Lake Fayetteville

Our favorite spot for fishing has to be Lake Fayetteville. Located very close to downtown, it’s the perfect place to go if you’re short on time but still want to have a big adventure! The lake is usually quite calm, making it a great place to take out the canoe or the kayak for a relaxing paddle around the lake’s 194 acres of surface area. If you don’t have your own boat, not to worry! You can rent one there.

3. Lake Sequoyah Park

A fair bit larger than Lake Fayetteville, Lake Sequoyah is comprised of 389 acres of water area, and the park has 1,400 acres of land! So there’s plenty of space for you to stretch out and feel the water between your toes. The lake was originally built to serve as a freshwater supply for the city of Fayetteville, but since the Beaver Water District became the main fresh water source, Lake Sequoyah has become a haven for outdoor lovers.

The lake is perfect for kayaking, skiing, and fishing, though you have to get a fishing permit at the marina. There are also many nature trails from which you can see some beautiful local birds.

When you’re tired after spending all day on the boat, nothing will feel better than sitting back and enjoying the extremely comfortable seats of the new 2022 Kia Sorento. Come test drive one today at Crain Kia of Fayetteville!
