Spacious Interior
The 2020 Rio measures just under 173 inches between its bumpers with the sedan and about 160 inches long with the hatchback. Inside, there’s enough space for five passengers. The front seats are roomy and supportive, even for taller travelers, while the rear seats have 33.5 inches of legroom and are bolstered by a well-formed bench seat.
In addition to space for passengers, the Rio boasts plenty of room in the trunk. With the sedan, you get 13.7 cubic feet of space, while the hatchback boasts about 17 cubic feet. Opt for 60/40-split-folding rear seats to give you additional flexibility. Folding down the rear seats gives you 32.8 cubic feet, which is impressive since this body style is an entire foot shorter than the sedan.
Stellar Safety Rating
While the only standard safety feature found in the 2020 Rio is a rearview camera, it does offer a few upgrades. You can opt for automatic emergency braking and forward-collision warning. Thanks to these features, the vehicle attained the highest rating in five crash tests from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). The Rio also has two complete sets of LATCH connectors found on the rear outboard seats, and the IIHS gave this LATCH system the second-highest rating for ease of use.
