The cargo space on the 2020 Soul might remind you more of a small crossover than a compact SUV. It shouldn’t come as a surprise, then, that the Soul’s storage space is better than many small SUVs. Its 24.2 cubic feet of space behind the rear seats is enough room for luggage while folding down these seats gives you more than 62 cubic feet of space. There are numerous cubbies and shelves available for additional storage. You can raise or lower the floorboard behind the second row, and when lowered, you gain 0.8 cubic feet of storage.
- Powerful Engines
The 2020 Soul offers two gasoline engine options, down from the three in the previous year’s model. The base 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine produces 147 horsepower and 132 pound-feet of torque. Front-wheel drive also comes standard as does a six-speed manual transmission, but you can opt for a continuously variable transmission (CVT). The other engine is a 201-horsepower turbocharged four-cylinder engine found in the GT-Line Turbo trim. There is an alternative powertrain — the 201-horsepower electric motor in the Soul EV.
With the base engine, you get an estimated 27 mpg in the city and 33 mpg on the highway. The turbocharged engine attains almost the same mileage with 27 mpg in the city and 32 mpg on the highway. The EV model gets the mpg equivalent of 127 mpg in the city and 101 mpg on the highway with a total range of 243 miles.
- User-Friendly Technology Features
On the 2020 Soul, the standard UVO infotainment system features a 7-inch touch-screen display. It also comes with six speakers, one USB port, Bluetooth, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. Available upgrades include a 10.25-inch touch-screen display, wireless device charging, an upgraded audio system, satellite radio, and extra USB ports. The UVO system is easy to use, thanks to its sharp graphics and physical controls.
- Comfortable Interior
Seating five people comfortably, the 2020 Soul has seats with plenty of support and comfort. Both rows of seats have enough legroom and headroom, and those in the rear seat won’t worry about their knees hitting the front seat due to the amount of space. Drivers experience a commanding view of the road thanks to the high seating position.
- Excellent Safety Features
Although the 2020 Soul only comes standard with a rearview camera, there are several upgrades available on all trims except the base one.
